"of course!..." I replied. He look at me.
"..not".

The City of Locks
In the City of Locks time was money, height was prestige, and safe passage was no ordinary affair.
A couple of days spent negotiating the crystalline waters of the City of Locks could change an educated traveler forever.

Snowman, Adobe Eazel on iPAd
Adobe Eazel on iPad.
This was drawn with the beta of Adobe Eazel. It's a really interesting app with a unique painting engine that (sort of) emulates watercolour, and a daring five fingered aproach to tool navigation. A cool feature is that you can send your work directly to photoshop without syncing your ipad with itunes or emailing yourself or sending it here to flickr first.

In The Future Everyone Is Friendly. Except When They Are Not.
In The Future Everyone Is Friendly. Except When They Are Not., originally uploaded by Matthew Watkins.
Never underestimate the importance of helpful service and flawless logistics when purchasing bioelectric sheep. We pride ourselves on a reliable network of third party mercenaries and consiglieri to keep supply lines open and our world famous friendly service active, long after our competitors have given up.
Call us for an estimate, before it's too late.

Rough Fell XT500
A true classic amongst robotic sheep. A perfect combination of advanced componentry combined with state of the art bio engineering make the Rough Fell XT500 most adapted to the exacting demands of our modern climate. In London fog, toxic waste clouds or during a sarin attack this baby lamb never stops producing 7 types of synthetic wool in literally thousands of unnatural looking colours.

Border Leicester TX19
Do Androids really dream of Electric Sheep? Well of course they do!
And what android would not dream about this snappy little TX19? State of the art components defined new heights of versatility and performance in this little lamb.
Overheating unfortunately turned out to be a problem, and though addressed to some degree in models TX20, TX21 and TX 21a it was eventually discontinued.
The TX sereis is still a collectors item and third party cooling kits now make up for some of it's initial design deficiencies.
Online parts catalogues are now available on request at www.watkinsmedia.com.

San Nicola
San Nicola (Saint Nicholas) is the Patron Saint of the City of Bari. I fingerpainted this in brushes app on my ipad. It is not a historic reproduction but rather a loose and personal interpretation based based on Byzantine paintings of the Saint.
It was commissioned by a regional Italian Magazine for their December issue.

The Sorry Bot
Man had created robots for everything. Robots to clean the house, to prepare meals, to work, provide comfort and fight the endless wars that intense cyberindustrialism was causing.
The planet was reduced to a wasteland. Humans were only a fragile intruder into a world that they had created.
The burden of guilt was extreme. It had become necessary to create a class of robots to take responsibility for all this.
They were the Sorry Bots.
And they were despised by all.

The Tower of the tree of life
"the old man told me that this tower is older than anyone can remember. And that the door to the tower is always open for this tower defends all living things and has no enemies except for time itself'.
note:
In Puglia in the south of Italy there are thousands of ancient olive trees, many dating back to the time of Christ. As they get old and gnarled and bent from the wind some times they need to be propped up with blocks, or they break.
The concept of the tree of life needing human intervention in the same way to stay alive makes a curious parallel with our current condition.

The floating of the Elephant
A white elephant is regarded as a sign a monarch reigns with justice and power, and that the kingdom is blessed with peace and prosperity. Because the animals are considered sacred laws protect them from labor, and receiving the gift of a white elephant from a monarch is simultaneously both a blessing and a curse: a blessing because the animal is sacred and a sign of the monarch's favour, and a curse because the animal has to be retained and could not be put to work offsetting it's costs.
